Transforming Agriculture through Innovation – Indian Perspective

Agriculture is oldest and largest sector in India which employs more than 54.6% of workforce along with significant contribution in country’s economy (17.8% GVA added for the year 2019-2020). According to FAO, India is the largest producer of pulses (25% of global production) and milk, second largest producer of rice, wheat, sugarcane, cotton and groundnuts. India is also second-largest producer of fruit and vegetables, accounted 10.9% and 8.6% of global production respectively.
