Burgeoning Issues of Agriculture and Potential Agricultural Engineering Solutions

Abstract

Agriculture is the back bone of India and is the base for any industrial development. Presently agriculture is facing daunting issues and require paradigm shift from present traditional practices to improved precision agriculture. Present agriculture is facing many issues especially in rural agriculture to make it economically viable and to attract rural youth towards agriculture. Though there are many promising Agricultural Engineering interventions which are available to resolve the present agricultural issues, but no proper emphasis has been given to use them at the grassroots as well as skillful Agricultural Engineering human resource for effective implementations of these interventions. The need of an hour is to prioritize the issues, deploy right human resources to resolve them, make use of resources to the fullest extent and bring considerable change in agriculture to make it most profitable and sustainable.
