Abstract

with nearly 65% of the population depending on farming and allied activities for their livelihood. For the Indian farmer, maximizing yield while managing costs and labour is a constant challenge. Traditional practices like manual crop spraying are not only labour-intensive and time-consuming but can also lead to inconsistent application of agrochemicals, resulting in lower yields, environmental contamination and health risks for farm workers. Agricultural drones are emerging as a powerful solution to these challenges. By providing a means for precise, efficient and scalable farm management, drones offer a direct path to more profitable and sustainable agriculture. They enable targeted actionfrom spraying in affected areas to identifying nutrient deficiencies before they become critical, which translates into significant savings on inputs like fertilizers and pesticides. Ultimately, by reducing drudgery, improving operational efficiency and supporting data-driven decisions, drone technology represents a major way forward in building a more resilient and profitable future for farmers.
