Abstract

Packaging of fresh fruits has great significance in reducing the wastage. It protects the fruits from mechanical and environmental stress during transportation. It also provides ease in handling. and trading. CFB boxes arc preferred due to its characteristics like lightweight. good printability and less damage to the fruit due to bruising during transportation. It was observed that huge losses occurred when kinnow is transported in the CFB boxes to distant markets because of faulty method of packaging or improper size of the box. Therefore. in the present study the size of the CFB box for different grades of kinnow fruits were determined and other inputs were suggested to reduce the losses during transportation.
