Abstract

A transfer function developed through a sinusoidal input force carrier and amplification process was used to characterize the dynamic behaviour of grape fruit samples. A ten sample paired t-test showed agreement between experimentally observed strains (displacements) under linearized sinusoidal input force and those predicted (estimated) using the sinusoidal transfer function (p =0.05). Apparent differences between the measured and predicted values may be due to creep behaviour of biological tissues unaccounted for during physical measurements of complex compliance of the grape fruit samples under dynamic loading condition.
