Abstract

Investigations were carried out to determine the effects of moisture content and screen perforation area on decortication efficiency of water chestnut decorticator. The decortication efficiency was 98.70 per cent with the screen D (area of perforation 30.88%) at 7.07% moisture content. Average amount of brokens decreased with increase in area of perforations whereas the average amount of unhusked water chestnut increased with increase in the area of perforations of the screens.
