Footvalve is one of the major energy consuming components of a pumpset. Analysis was made to quantify this for different makes of foot valves being marketed. The energy consumption varied from 0.18% to 3.10% of the input power for the discharges of 7 to 13 l/s. The energy saving with the use of an efficient footvalve was in the range of 0.13% to 2.4%.
