Abstract

The variability of Kostiakov's parameter k and exponent a with time and space in a furrow irrigation system was studied. The geo-statistical techniques such as autocorrelation, auto correlogram and classical statistical technique such as frequency analysis was carried out. Both a and k were found varied spatially and temporally. They are found to be random and independent at the lag of 10m. Frequency analysis established that both k and a were Gamma distributed. The Chi-square goodness of fit were found significant at 97.79% and 92.34% probability for k and a, respectively. The value of a in first irrigation was 0.263 and in the subsequent 2nd and 3rd irrigations was 0.317 and 0.410, respectively. However, k was found decreasing with the value in the first irrigation as 0.00286, which decreased to 0.00187 and 0.00117 respectively in the subsequent 2nd and 3rd irrigations
