Abstract

The performance of different containers with respect to various parameters namely temperature, moisture content, percentage weight loss and insect damage was studied. The sorghum grain variety ‘Swati’ was stored in Kanqi (local bin). rectangular metal bin. polyethylene lined tar jute bag, PVC lined jute bag and ordinary jute bag. It was observed that for six months storage of sorghum grain, the PVC lined jute bag gave satisfactory

results. The temperature of grain in PVC lined jute bas was observed lower than in other containers during storage. The moisture content of grain in PVC lined jute bag was mainlined lower than in others. The percentage weight loss was also lower in PVC lined jute bag after 180 d. The insect damage was also observed less in PVC lined jute bag.
