A seed drill attachment Up tractor drawn cultivator was developed for sowing peanut. The seed drill was evaluated for sowing peanut under rainfed conditions in black and red soils. The field performance of the unit was assessed with five treatments viz., sowing behind country plough (control), dibbling, bullock drawn seed drill, seed drill attachment to cultivator and gorru based on field stand of crop and yield. The cost of operation of the unit was Rs. 137/ha with saving in cost of Rs. 150/ha and time of 18 h/ha in comparison to control. The germination of peanut using cu1tivator seed drill was 30 plants per m2, which was 31.8% higher than sowing behind country plough. The yield of peanut was 21 .2% higher than control.
