UNIAXIAL COMPRESSION OF RAPESEEDS : OIL FLOW ASPECT

A 10 mm thin bed of rapeseeds was uniaxially compressed in a test cell employing Carver press to study oil out flow with deformation at different static pressure, moisture contents and time of compression. Results revealed that quantity of oil expressed increased rapidly in the beginning but later increase was at decreasing rate and varied linearly with large values of deformation. With time ultimately a point reached beyond which bed did not deform further under same conditions. These equilibrium conditions being unique properties are independent of initial conditions.
