Electrical resistivity investigation is perhaps the most effective and commonly employed method in ground water prospecting, but in hard rock formations this method introduces a large degree of ambiguity in the interpretation of resistivity data. Hence under the present effort an attempt has been made to adapt curve break method to geoelectrical prospecting for obtaining a good correlation (r=0.90) between Vertical Electrical Sounding curve and lithology of the bore wells. It was found that curve breaks obtained at shallow depths was not giving promising yield as compared to deeper depths. It was found true in H and HA type curves. It was also revealed that curve break method worked fairly well to an electrode separation of 80 to 100 m.
